1. Scope and overview

LivingSteps is a general wellness and activity application that can help you view steps, estimated distance, estimated calories, activity time, goals, history, and motivational or reward-related features. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

This policy applies to the LivingSteps app and the LivingSteps pages at my-step.org/livingsteps. Third-party services have their own privacy practices, which are governed by their policies.

2. Information we process

The information processed depends on your device, app version, region, permissions, settings, and the features you use. It can include:

  • Activity and app-content data: step count, goal progress, estimated distance, estimated calories, active time, activity history, streaks, points, reward eligibility or redemption status, and related preferences.
  • Device and application information: device manufacturer and model, operating system and app version, language, country or region, time zone, screen characteristics, network type, and permission status.
  • Identifiers: advertising identifiers, app-instance or app-set identifiers, and other identifiers used for app operation, analytics, advertising, security, attribution, and fraud prevention.
  • Usage, advertising, and diagnostic data: app opens, screens or features used, session timing, ad requests, impressions, clicks, rewarded-ad events, campaign attribution, errors, crash logs, and performance diagnostics.
  • Network and general location information: IP address and an approximate location or region inferred from it. Basic step counting does not require precise GPS location.
  • Support communications: your email address, message, screenshots, device details, or other information you choose to provide when you contact us.

Some activity information and preferences can be stored on your device. Information needed for advertising, analytics, diagnostics, eligible reward features, service security, or support may be transmitted to us or our service providers.

3. Android permissions

LivingSteps may request Android permissions when they are relevant to an available feature:

  • Physical activity: used to detect or access step-related activity on supported Android devices.
  • Notifications: used to deliver reminders, progress messages, service notices, or eligible reward updates if you enable them.
  • Network access: used to load app services, advertisements, diagnostics, policy pages, and other online content.

You can review or revoke controllable permissions in Android settings. Revoking a permission may prevent the related feature from working correctly.

4. How we use information

We use information for the following purposes:

  • Provide step tracking, progress views, goals, history, settings, and other requested app features.
  • Operate eligible points, incentives, promotions, or reward experiences and verify qualifying events.
  • Deliver, personalize where permitted, measure, and protect advertising.
  • Understand app performance and feature usage, fix errors, and improve reliability and design.
  • Detect automated activity, invalid traffic, abuse, security incidents, or fraudulent reward claims.
  • Respond to support and privacy requests and send important service communications.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Some privacy laws may define certain personalized advertising disclosures as a "sale," "sharing," or "targeted advertising" even when no money is exchanged; the choices described below may apply in those regions.

5. Advertising and measurement partners

LivingSteps may display standard or rewarded advertisements. Advertising and measurement services may automatically process identifiers, IP address, general location, device and app information, ad impressions and interactions, and diagnostic or anti-fraud signals. Depending on your region and choices, this information may be used to select personalized or non-personalized ads, limit repetition, measure campaigns, attribute installs, provide rewards connected to completed ad events, and prevent invalid traffic.

Partners may include Google AdMob and its authorized buyers, Meta Audience Network, Bigo Ads, and other mediation, measurement, demand, or reseller partners available for a particular ad request. The current authorized seller list is published in our app-ads.txt file. An entry in that file does not mean that the listed company receives information in every session.

These partners process information under their own terms and privacy policies. For example, you can review how Google uses information from partner apps and the Meta Privacy Policy.

Where available, an in-app privacy message may let you make advertising choices. Non-personalized ads can still use identifiers or local storage for functions such as frequency capping, aggregated reporting, security, and fraud prevention.

6. When information is disclosed

We may disclose information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: vendors supporting advertising, analytics, attribution, crash reporting, hosting, communications, customer support, security, fraud prevention, or eligible reward operations.
  • Platform and device providers: Google Play, Android, Google services, and device manufacturers when they provide distribution, permissions, backup, security, or operating-system functionality.
  • Legal and safety reasons: when reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process, enforce our terms, investigate abuse, or protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the public, or our services.
  • Business changes: in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or transfer of all or part of the app business, subject to appropriate safeguards.
  • At your direction: when you request or consent to a disclosure.

7. Website information

The LivingSteps website does not require an account. Our hosting and network providers may process standard request logs such as IP address, browser and device type, requested page, referring page, and request time for delivery, security, diagnostics, and aggregated traffic measurement. External links, including Google Play, are governed by the destination site's policies.

8. Retention and deletion

Information stored only within LivingSteps on your device generally remains until you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. Android backup or device-transfer services may retain copies according to your device and Google account settings.

We and our service providers retain other information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including service operation, advertising measurement, reward verification, fraud prevention, support, legal compliance, and dispute resolution. Retention periods depend on the data type, feature, legal requirements, and security needs. We may retain aggregated or de-identified information that no longer reasonably identifies you.

To request deletion of information held by us in connection with a support request or server-backed feature, email [email protected]. We may need information to verify the request. Clearing app storage or uninstalling LivingSteps removes local app data but does not automatically delete information already processed by an advertising or platform provider; contact that provider or use its privacy controls for those records.

9. Your choices and controls

  • Grant or revoke physical activity and notification permissions in Android settings.
  • Turn notifications off through Android notification settings.
  • Use any privacy-options or consent message shown in the app to update available advertising choices.
  • Review Android and Google account advertising controls, including options to reset or delete the device's advertising ID where supported.
  • Clear LivingSteps storage or uninstall the app to remove data stored locally by the app.
  • Contact us to ask about, correct, or delete information associated with a support request or server-backed feature, subject to applicable law.

10. Children

LivingSteps is not directed to children under 13, or under a higher minimum age where required by local law. We do not knowingly request personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through LivingSteps or a support channel, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

11. Security and international processing

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No system, storage method, or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We and our service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

12. Regional privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, or information about disclosures. You may also have the right to appeal a decision or complain to a privacy authority. These rights can be limited by law and may require identity verification.

Send a request to [email protected] and describe the app, device, feature, and request involved. Do not send sensitive health or identity documents unless we specifically ask for information needed to verify your request.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when LivingSteps, our providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. If a change is material, we may also provide an in-app notice or another notice where appropriate.
